About Lizzy Kurtzer: Coaching, Experience & Qualifications

Who is Lizzy Kurtzer?

Lizzy Kurtzer is a life coach based in Edinburgh, Scotland, working with women and queer people across the UK and Europe. Her work focuses on confidence, self-trust, self-worth and helping people stop fighting themselves so they can create lives that feel genuinely their own.

Lizzy's coaching is particularly suited to people who are capable, driven and self-aware, but who have become exhausted by self-doubt, self-criticism or feeling stuck between the life they have and the life they know they want.

Her work explores the relationship a person has with themselves — and how that relationship shapes the way they make decisions, respond to fear, navigate change and create their lives.

Lizzy's Approach to Coaching

At the heart of Lizzy's work is a simple belief:

The relationship you have with yourself shapes everything.

Her coaching goes beyond setting goals and taking action. Together with her clients, she explores the beliefs, patterns and ways of relating to themselves that can make change feel difficult or impossible.

Common themes in her work include:

  • self-criticism and the relentless inner critic

  • low self-worth and feelings of not being enough

  • shame and self-rejection

  • self-abandonment and self-sabotaging patterns

  • difficulty trusting yourself and your decisions

  • fear of wanting more

  • feeling stuck or disconnected from yourself

  • burnout, overwhelm and depleted energy

  • navigating significant life or career changes

The aim is not to become a different person. It is to develop a different relationship with yourself — one that is kinder, more supportive and more trusting.

From that place, clients can begin to make decisions, take action and create change without constantly fighting themselves

Professional Background

Lizzy's coaching practice is informed by a background spanning psychology, people development, executive search, leadership and commercial management.

She began her career working in graduate development, where she supported graduates to develop self-awareness, emotional intelligence, mindset and leadership skills. Her work included psychoeducation and helping people understand how their relationship with themselves could influence their career and professional development.

She later took on responsibility for culture and people development across her organisation, including work around mindset, leadership and the development of people and teams.

Lizzy then moved into executive search, working alongside company directors to recruit VP and C-suite leaders globally within the software and technology sector. She spent much of her time speaking with senior leaders about leadership, business growth, teams and organisational culture.

A significant part of this work involved assessing self-awareness and emotional intelligence in senior leaders — developing a deep understanding of what differentiates effective leadership at senior levels.

She subsequently moved into commercial leadership, running a team whose revenue she grew from approximately £300,000 to £1.5 million. She remained involved in senior executive recruitment and client relationships, sat on the leadership team, and continued to lead people development and coaching within the organisation.

Her professional background also includes experience in people operations and project management.

Coaching experience

Lizzy completed her professional coaching training in 2021 and graduated with her Accredited Diploma in Transformative Coaching from Animas Centre for Coaching in early 2022. The programme is accredited by the ICF, EMCC and AC.

She has been working as a coach since 2021 and has run her own private coaching practice for more than three and a half years.

She has worked with clients across the UK and Europe, including women who are navigating career change, entrepreneurship, burnout, major life transitions, relationship and identity changes, and periods where they know they want something different but feel unable to move towards it.

Lizzy has also provided coaching within organisations, including coaching employees as part of organisational development and leadership work.

Alongside individual coaching, she has experience facilitating and coaching groups and holds an Accredited Certificate in Group Coaching from Animas Centre for Coaching.

She has delivered more than 300 hours of coaching across her private practice and organisational work, alongside earlier coaching and people-development experience within her corporate career.

Menstrual cycle and menstruality expertise

Lizzy has been studying menstrual cycle awareness since 2019 and brings specialist menstrual cycle and menstruality education into her coaching where it is relevant to the client.

Her training includes:

  • Cycle Coach — Certification in Menstrual Cycle Coaching

  • Red School — Menstruality Leadership Programme

She has worked individually with clients around menstrual cycle awareness and has delivered approximately 20 workshops and training sessions across menstrual health, menstrual cycle awareness, leadership, people development and related topics.

Her menstrual cycle work has included sessions for organisations including All3Media, Little Dot Studios, Acumen, Elavon, Add People and Islington Council, as well as ongoing work with Timberyard Group.

Lizzy also created an eight-part audio course exploring menstrual cycle awareness and offers free educational resources through her website.

Her approach to menstrual cycle awareness goes beyond tracking symptoms or predicting energy levels.

She uses the cycle as a framework for developing a deeper relationship with yourself — noticing patterns in energy, emotions, needs and capacity, and using that awareness to understand yourself and make choices that work with your actual needs rather than against them.

Workshops, training and organisational work

Alongside her 1:1 coaching practice, Lizzy has delivered coaching, training and workshops for organisations across hospitality, financial services, media, marketing and communications, and recruitment.

Organisations she has worked with include:

Timberyard Group, Evolution Financial Services, Tarn International, All3Media, Little Dot Studios, Acumen, Elavon, Add People, and Islington Council.

Working with Lizzy

Lizzy works with clients through both focused coaching engagements and longer-term coaching relationships.

Many clients begin with Foundations, her four-month 1:1 coaching experience, which provides a dedicated space to reset, reconnect with yourself and begin building confidence and self-trust.

Some clients continue working with Lizzy beyond Foundations as they navigate their next chapter, make significant changes or continue developing their relationship with themselves.

Her approach is not about telling clients what to do or pushing them towards a predetermined version of success.

It is about creating the space to understand what is actually going on, listen to yourself more deeply, transform the beliefs and patterns that keep you stuck, and learn how to stay with yourself when things feel uncertain, uncomfortable or messy.

The aim is to help you become the person who can choose your life — not by abandoning yourself to get there, but by learning how to stay with yourself every step of the way.
